Playing with Fire
Known as lampworking: I melt glass rods in a torch flame & wind them around a steal rod to create a hole for the bead. Lampworking has endless possibilities when it comes to technique and color. I also love the immediacy of it. Paintings take forever it seems, but beading is immediate gratification. You watch as the glass melts and the colors meld into one another forming patterns. I think, playing with fire gives me a bit of a rush too! Skip the matches, I want a torch! All of my beads are made with Italian Moretti & German lauscha Glass and are Kiln annealed for strength and durability.
